
I call some of my drawings minimalist– the single figures or those with a few figures in simplistic configuration. “Five Figures on a Plane” shown above has 5 carefully placed circular figures and a restrictive color palette, that’s minimalism to me. Many viewers disagree, pointing out that most of the figures in my drawings are composed of hundreds, even thousands of line plots, some very dense with detail to the point they become solid figures instead of lines. That is true. One of the challenges for me in drawing is to make the complexity and detail appear to be minimalist and simplistic.
